Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots

The Bucyrus Public Library now has Sprint Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots available for the public to check out. This new service is part of the library’s commitment to serving our patrons by providing access to the library’s resources wherever they are. When checked out, the Mobile Hotspots can be used to get a wireless signal and connect any Wi-Fi-enabled device (mobile device, laptop, computer, printer, digital camera, or gaming device).

Below are the policies for the Sprint Mobile Hotspots:
1. Patron must be 18 or older to check out the hotspot.
2. Patron must have a Bucyrus Public Library card in good standing with less than $10 in fines and a photo identification to check out hotspot.
3. Parents/guardians are responsible for the use of the hotspot by minors.
4. Provisional cardholders and juvenile cardholders cannot check out hotspots.
5. The loan period is 14 days with no renewal.
6. Hotspots must be returned to the circulation desk to a library staff member. If returned in the book drop, patron will lose hotspot privileges for one (1) month.
7. The hotspot will be deactivated within 24 hours after the due date if not returned.
8. The user is responsible for lost or damaged hotspots and accessories.
9. One hotspot can be checked out per household at one time.
10. The hotspot can support up to 10 devices.
11. Unlawful use of the Internet or use that violates library policy is prohibited and may result in permanent loss of privileges.
12. The Bucyrus Public Library is not responsible for damage to patrons’ equipment.

The following are the fines and fees associated with the Sprint Mobile Hotspots:
1. Fines are $1.00/day with no grace period.
2. Replacement cost of the hotspot is $75; charging cord is $10; adapter is $10, and case is $25.
3. If the hotspot is not returned to the library within fourteen (14) days of the due date, the patron will be charged the total cost of $120.00 to replace the device.
